Preaching to the masses...
To drum up interest (see what we did there?) station bosses have launched a marketing assault on the city centre, and outlying towns (such as Bolton, Rochdale and Stockport), ahead of yesterday’s big launch.

The centrepiece outdoor campaign features creative produced by Glasgow’s The Bridge, which features witty lines such as “Of course we play religious music - Genesis, Nazareth Judas Priest” and “Sure we play boybands – Aerosmith, The Stones, The Who.”

The activity is spread across backlit 48 sheets, 96 sheet landmark sites and 6 sheets, plus key sites near city centre rock bars, clubs and music shops.

In tandem with this, street teams, ad vans and bikes rolled out across the broadcast area prior to launch, while a specially produced ad ran on GMG’s Channel M station.

Helen Dickinson, group marketing manager at GMG Radio, said that the focus of the activity was to “ensure that the right people get to hear about the station, its music and its philosophy.”
