How-Do 100’er, acclaimed scriptwriter and generally acknowledged saviour of Doctor Who Russell T Davies has been unveiled as the keynote speaker at the inaugural Anthony H Wilson Memorial Lecture.
Davies Wilson, Mr Manchester to many in the media and music worlds, passed away last year following a battle with cancer and has since been fondly remembered at numerous events in the city, such as the recent Big Chip Awards. It’s now the turn of the Royal Television Society North West (RTS) to honour the presenter and founder of Factory Records, with the body’s first ever Anthony H Wilson Memorial Lecture. This is set to take place at Pure Nightclub in The Printworks on Friday 20 June and, in a coup for the RTS, will be hosted by Davies, who recently announced that he would be vacating the Doctor Who hot seat. Davis rose to acclaim with his work for Coronation Street and his long-standing collaboration with Red Productions on popular programmes such as Queer As Folk. www.rts.org.uk
