How-Do woke up this morning, not to just one new Coronation Street website. Not even 2 new Coronation Street websites, but 3!
Admittedly 2 of the sites come from ITV, which has revamped it’s Corrie microsite and moved into social media with a dedicated Facebook offering. "Holy Soap Batman!" More than 10,000 fans have already signed up to the Facebook page, which is being updated with the latest news and gossip from the set. The microsite builds on the interaction and multimedia that ITV has been adding recently, with daily news updates, exclusive videos and comments. Website number 3 has been created by broadcasting rival, Five. In a bid to get more viewers to switch over for a Neighbours/Home and Away fix, it’s launched Holy Soap. While the site concentrates predominantly on its Aussie offering, it’s also providing content and links to British soaps including Corrie, Eastenders and Hollyoaks. It’s also free of Five branding so as to appeal to a wider audience. Another unique feature is a deal with Brightcove which allows you to embed episodes of Five soaps on third-party websites. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
