Well-known media pundit and journalist Steve Hewlett will be presenting Radio 4’s new weekly radio programme The Media Show from October.
The new programme replaces The Message which was broadcast out of Manchester for ten years until May of this year. Although arguably best known for his column in The Guardian, Hewlett cut his teeth in the North West and maintains interests in the region including being chairman of Channel M and as a Visiting Professor in journalism and broadcasting at the University of Salford.
The new programme will be broadcast every Wednesday at 1.30pm, 52 weeks a year. It is being produced out of London.
The show will focus on the ‘world of media in all its forms’ - print, television, radio, online and telecommunications.
Hewlett said: "I hope the programme will be able to lift the lid on many of the current stories within the media, offering genuine insight and intelligence, making this show a must-listen for both those within the industry – but always accessible to a wider audience of those interested in a subject that affects all our lives."
