Bauer Media has confirmed that Michelle Surrell has resigned from her position as regional managing director in the North West. She will, however, continue in this role until a date has been set for her to leave.
A spokesperson for Bauer told How-Do that they wouldn’t be making a formal statement until they had chosen her successor, but they “wished her the very best for the future.” Sorrell has been at the company for 22 years and in 2008 was ranked 25th in How-Do's Media 100. It’s thought that she will take some time off before beginning a new project outside of radio. Staff were informed about her decision through a memo from group managing director Dee Ford, it read:
"I'd like to thank Michelle personally for all her hard work. She has been a great Ambassador for the business and I am sure she will continue to deliver a significant contribution to whatever she decides to do next." Sorrell added: “I have loved every minute of my time in radio. The strategy for 2010 is coming together and I know I leave all our North West stations in extremely capable hands." Something to add?
