Sumners has been tasked with a major piece of post-production for a new 12 part ITV1 documentary, Children’s Hospital.
As How-Do revealed last year, the programmes are being produced by Maverick Television, part of the All3Media super indie, for transmission this spring. Children's Hospital The production company shot the documentary on the tapeless XDCAM EX video systems and uploaded the footage using the FORscene Cloud-based video editing platform, which meant that all the clips were available to access through a web-browser, regardless of where they were being filmed. “This production produced a lot of stories and the key for the production team was to ensure they could monitor how they each developed,” said Donna Mulvey-Jones, head of facilities at Maverick Television. “Giving the Executive Producer access to rushes and cuts regardless of location was amazingly helpful.” Frame-accurate meta data was added to all the footage so that producers could easily find specific story lines and send them to the right edit suites. "We have a lot of experience with productions using tapeless formats and the issues that can occur. We found FORscene to be a benefit to workflow enhancements we can offer,” added Roger Sanderson, chief engineer at Sumners post-production. “The support for file based media is a significant addition to the FORscene toolset and we believe that Cloud based solutions will be an important element of project management moving forward."
