In the City music convention will have a broadcasting vibe this year with the arrival of big names from the world of music television.
Chris Cowey Legendary director Dick Carruthers is taking a break from filming Oasis and Def Leppard to come to Manchester and tell delegates what it’s like in his world. He’s just persuaded MTV to transmit an Oasis concert live - presumably after the watershed... Fellow director and executive producer, Chris Cowey (Top of the Pops, The White Room, The Tube) will also be heading over to persuade the gathered masses that music television isn’t dead just yet. Experts will also be debating the future of television with IPTV and multi-platform narrowcasting now on offer. Phil Poole from Box TV (EMAP Bauer), Simon Hallam (Joost) and Michael Barry (BT Vision) will line up alongside Chris Price (MTV). In the City is one of the highlights of the music calendar. Set up by Anthony Wilson and his partner Yvette Livesey it’s helped launch the careers of Coldplay, Muse and many more. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
