Macclesfield-headquartered Ten Alps has announced that it is looking to make in-roads into the Asian market with the purchase of London and Singapore-based TV firm Uproar Productions.
Connock: building carefully
The business, set up by former BBC journalist Sarah Macdonald, is being absorbed into Ten Alps subsidiary Blakeway Productions, while its Singapore office is being re-branded as Uproar Asia PTE Ltd.
In a statement from the firm, chief executive Alex Connock said: "This is a first step in a plan to leverage our content and communications skills into the fast-growing Asian markets, where we believe factual TV production, publishing and communications services in offline and online media are strong opportunities.
“We will build carefully in Asia against our existing asset base and aim to expand the operation using our proven commercial models."
The firm has been bought for £30,000 cash with a two year maximum earn-out of £562,000 (cash and shares).
Uproar has produced shows as 'Sex Crimes & the Vatican' for the BBC, which led to the resignation of an Irish bishop.
