Ten Alps ups turnover to £81m and looks at further TV ventures | Print |  Email to a friend
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Macclesfield-headquartered Ten Alps has seen a surge in turnover and profits over the last year, and is now seemingly looking to extend its reach further into the public sector.

The firm, headed up by Cheshire and London-based Alex Connock, pulled in £81.4m over the last year of trading, an increase of 18% on its previous year’s posting of £69m.

Macclesfield-headquartered Ten Alps has seen a surge in turnover and profits over the last year, and is now seemingly looking to extend its reach further into the public sector.
Over the same financial period pre-tax profits enjoyed a hike from £2.7m to £3.15m - an increase of some 15%.

One of the firm’s key successes in that period was local authority channel Kent TV, which surpassed its initial target of 50,000 viewers by attracting 70,000 (May 2008).

As a result the firm is now looking to take advantage of existing relationships with its local authority print customers, as detailed in the market statement below:

“Local authorities nationwide are currently investing significant amounts on media output to communicate with their customers.  Ten Alps has 217 existing local authority print customers and we believe further local online TV operations will be launched. “

The statement then earmarked future broadcast developments by noting: “In addition, Ten Alps is also actively looking at producing and part-owning online TV channels in science and other fields, in what is an exciting growth area.”

It was also noted that the group’s content division was looking to expand primarily through organic growth but “is currently looking at smaller acquisitions, which tend to be sector-specific, both in TV and online.”

It is also looking to recruit new producers.

Connock hailed what he said was “a strong performance in the face of the poor economic conditions.”
