The next series of BBC2's The Culture Show will be kicking off in Manchester this summer, with a series of shows beaming out of the city's Albert Square.
 Laverne: Manchester bound The programme, hosted by Lauren Laverne and Mark Kermode, is heading to the city to mark the 2009 Manchester International Festival and will base its first three episodes from the heart of 'the MIF'.Hitting the nation's screens at 7pm on 8, 15 and 22 July, the show - which has moved to a new slot and been extended to a 50 minute running time - will focus on some of the acts appearing at the second outing of the biennial. For example the first show features Laverne in conversation with Elbow's Guy Carvey, who will be appearing at the Bridgewater Hall with the Halle Orchestra, and a rare interview with Ralf Hϋtter, one of the founder members of reclusive German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. The influential band will be starring in a one-off concert at the Manchester Velodrome. BBC Radio Manchester is also ensuring that it takes a front row for the festival and will be offering reviews, festival coverage and interviews. Presenter Sam Walker will host a nightly show between 10pm and 1am live from the Festival Pavilion in Albert Square.
