ITV has commissioned a new series (the third) of six x 60 minute episodes of Blue Murder. Actress Tina O’Brien is to appear in her first role since Coronation Street.
O'Brien
O’Brien will guest star as the girlfriend of a murdered rock star, who becomes a prime suspect for DCI Janine Lewis played by Caroline Quentin.

The new series, produced by Mike Dormer is currently being filmed on location in Manchester. Dormer’s credits include New Tricks, Clocking Off, The Bill and EastEnders.

The writers are Blue Murder creator Cath Staincliffe along with Steve Griffiths, Neil Jones, Susan Oudot and Elizabeth-Anne Wheal.

Executive producer and controller of drama in Manchester for ITV Productions, Kieran Roberts, said: “We’re very excited about the series as a whole. The new 60 minute format works brilliantly and the six part run means we can take the lead characters further, with emotional journeys across the entire series, particularly for Janine.”
