Wish FM will continue to serve the airwaves of the Wigan and St Helen’s area after no other interested parties applied for the station’s licence.
Wish’s original licence is set to expire on the 31 March 2009 and because of this Ofcom re-advertised it in January to gauge if there were any other ‘declarations of intent’ for the next operating term. However, Wish was the only party to register its interest and as a result its application will be fast-tracked through the system and re-awarded to the current broadcaster. The new licence will commence on 1 April next year and run until at least 2015. Southport’s Dune FM and Liverpool’s Juice FM are also required to reapply for their broadcasting licences later this year. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
