UTV Radio has made a key appointment for its new Lancashire-based station 106.5 Central Radio, with the news that it has lured Paula Davies to the role of sales director.
Davies: excited Davis was previously head of sales at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but is familiar with both the broadcast industry and UTV having spent seven years at the firm’s 96.5 Radio Wave, also based in Blackpool. The 33 year old will now head up the commercial department of the new operation, which is due to launch imminently to the Preston, Chorley and Leyland areas. She said of the task ahead of her: “Launching a new radio station is an exciting challenge and some potential clients may have tried radio in the past and found it expensive or wasteful, so my role is to explain how 106.5 Central Radio will work for them.” Senior station director Mike Baker described his new recruit as “a strong and confident sales director.” Something to add?
