Following the earlier story that UTV had put 104.9 Imagine FM in Stockport up for sale, the company has now said that it hopes to shortly conclude a sale of the station as a going concern.
When UTV first announced the news, it added that should no ‘suitable’ buyer be found, it would simply hand the radio station’s licence back to Ofcom. UTV’s decision followed Ofcom rejecting a request by the company to relocate the Stockport studios to another UTV studio in Warrington.
Scott Taunton, UTV Radio chief executive said that “There has been a significant amount of interest from other groups with a view to taking over the radio station as a going concern.
“We feel that this is the best outcome for the staff at Imagine FM, the station’s listeners and the residents of Stockport and south Manchester.
“Given all the work that is currently taking place to secure the station’s future, it is highly unlikely that UTV Radio will hand back the licence to Ofcom.”Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
