The BBC has announced the line up for Free Thinking 08 which returns to Liverpool for a weekend of debates.
The festival is a link up between BBC Radio 3 and Radio Merseyside and this year, author and columnist Will Self, will start things off on Friday 31st October before Rev Ian Paisley takes the stand to discuss his writing, faith and long political career.
Self In addition to Bluecoat Arts Centre architect Hans van der Heikden, broadcaster Susan Blackmore and author Mark Haddon, there’ll also be a new drama production by Tony Marchant. It’s the third year that the festival has taken place and the aim is to encourage debate and bring the audience into the discussions and workshops. And if you fancy meeting a creative one-to-one, it may be useful to head over to Speeding Dating with a Thinker, where Ian McMillan will oversee contributors trying to seduce members of the public with their ideas… It will take place at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), Bluecoat Arts Centre, BBC Radio Merseyside's performance space and the recently refurbished Small Concert Room at St. George's Hall from 31st October. Last year 3,000 people attended the festival in Liverpool. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
