Sue Woodward, MD of ITV Granada and UK director of regional affairs for the broadcaster, is relinquishing her two roles at the end of March to take a new role working on ITV’s longer-term campaigns strategy.

In her new role, she will be reporting to Mark Gallagher, director of corporate affairs for ITV plc. It is believed the new role will enable her to remain based in Manchester.

Gallagher said: "I'm looking forward to working with Sue in the weeks and months ahead.  We have a number of cross-industry campaigns we're looking to develop during 2008 and Sue brings with her outstanding abilities in campaign planning and coalition building."

News that Woodward’s position at ITV was being reviewed was implicit when the news broke that the broadcaster was reviewing its entire regional affairs operation and the positions of a number of senior regional management.

Woodward said: "I have had a fantastic time over the last four years but the time is right for me to move on. Those who know me well know how I love a new challenge and ITV has always been able to recognise that need. They have been creative in seeking out the perfect vehicles for me, from the Commonwealth Games to  Liverpool's European Capital of Culture – and I am really excited by the opportunity to develop ITV 's approach to public campaigns."

Woodward has held her current role/s for four years.

In 2002, she was seconded to be the creative director for the Commonwealth Games with responsibility for the content, management and budget of the opening and closing ceremonies and all the media and marketing campaigns.

In 2003 she was awarded the OBE for services to broadcasting and the Commonwealth Games.

She also helped to write the bid for Liverpool in its pitch for European Capital of Culture 2008 and was subsequently appointed deputy chair of the Liverpool Culture Company.

Woodward is also a board member of the North West Cultural Consortium, the Salford Urban Regeneration Company and MIDAS.

In November last year, she was ranked as the third most influential person in the North West’s media community.

ITV Granada was voted the Top Media, Creative and Digital Brand in the North West in How-Do's Top 100 Brands initiative last year.
