How-Do regulars will by now be riveted by/bored stupid of the ongoing saga that is continuously spewing forth from the ITV1 show The Duchess on the Estate.
City fans turned off by Fergie For the benefit of any latecomers to the kerfuffle - The Duchess of York turned up in Wythenshawe, made a telly programme that offended a lot of folk, and peeved off the locals so much that they basically took the media into their own hands. This resulted in a film being made, in collaboration with BBC Radio Manchester, that aimed to demonstrate some of the more positive qualities of the Northern Moor estate. The piece was premiered last night and secured a promised spot on North West Tonight, with follow up coverage beaming out this morning on BBC Manchester's Alan Beswick Show. Local protests John Ryan, managing editor of BBC Radio Manchester, said of their involvement: "We were delighted to help the people of Northern Moor express their story through their film. "Our aim is to help local communities be part of our everyday storytelling and this was the perfect example”. You can see excerpts of the film here. In a rather depressing final note, How-Do checked YouTube to see if the homegrown piece was available to embed on the site. The search results for 'Northern Moor' brought up some video clips that we're sure the vast majority of residents would not be proud of. BBC and Creative Concern - get uploading to YouTube now!
