Xfm Manchester celebrated its second birthday last week while it awaits guidance and news on its future following parent company GCap’s earlier decision to close or sell the radio station off.
Over 200 Xfm competition winners attended party in Manchester where several local bands provided the entertainment including the winners of the Xfm New Music Award, The Enemy. The station’s programme controller Matt Whyatt said: “I am really pleased at the continued success of the radio station in the city. This has been a great occasion to thank our listeners and staff for their continued support and appreciation of Xfm Manchester.”
Several potential buyers are rumoured to be in the process of pulling together bids to buy the Manchester and Scottish stations – jointly or individually. These consortia are believed to include Scottish businessmen looking to acquire both stations and North West businessmen interested in supporting an MBO of the Manchester operation. www.xfmanchester.co.uk
