It’s believed that the BBC are looking to Alan Yentob to lead the corporation’s move to Salford. The new role of director of BBC North will be even more powerful with so many channels and commissioning jobs heading away from London as announced earlier this week.
With half the BBC's programme-making to come from outside the M25, the MediaCity:UK operation will be under even more pressure to deliver. And a high profile appointment would further underline the BBC’s commitment to the North West. The director would also have to persuade staff that there is life outside of London.
Yentob, currently the BBC’s creative director, could be facing a move from the Capital regardless with the arts programme, Imagine being moved to BBC Scotland - although it will still have a base in London. The deadline for applications passed earlier this week. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
