Archie Gemmill vs Zinedine Zidane. Brazen and PushON drive Hyundai to the World Cup's best moments | Print |  Email to a friend
Tuesday, 01 December 2009

Every football fan has one. That beer-spilling moment of magic on the sport's greatest stage when an individual piece of skill lights up a game... or a well-aimed head floors an Italian mother/daughter disparager. That's the unique joy of the World Cup.

The conjoined twins made quite a team
Now Manchester's Brazen and PushON are (again) joining forces for client Hyundai with a project that aims to help footy fans from across the globe decide on their favourite feats from the competition.

Together the two have launched http://www.itstheworldcup.co.uk/, which they hope to establish as an online hub for World Cup fans to congregate, chat and interact ahead of the 2010 tournament.

As one of its central content features users can vote on videos of some of the cup's most memorable moments and register for a chance to win prizes supplied by Microstars.

The agencies, which worked together on the 30beats initiative for Hyundai, are now looking to help the car maker make the most of its sponsorship of the event.

PushON built and is working to optimise traffic to the site, while Brazen is handling the PR brief.

Simon Wharton of PushON said of the task: "As a lifelong football fan I’m hugely excited about working on this campaign.

“I’m more than aware of how the ability to interact and share banter with other fans enhances your enjoyment of the game. The current vote is just the beginning – there are a lot more exciting ways for fans to get involved coming soon.”

The agencies are also pushing the site via Twitter at http://twitter.com/itstheworldcup

... but needs work. there's not enough 'moments' and other content on there yet for the site to act as any sort of hub. Could develop into something interesting though, given time and resource.

good idea, you're absolutely right on that. We decided only to list a few moments so that there was the opportunity for others to add moments that were important to them and feel engaged. It will be a slow burn on this. My own personal input was the Archie Gemmil goal against Holland, even though I'm not Scottish. More to do with me being a Forest fan. So much so that I named my youngest son after him. Archie, not Gemmill as some wit put it.
