Peel Media has agreed to 'a period of exclusive discussions' with Ascent Media Group, as the two look to conclude a partner agreement with regard to providing digital media services for the huge MediaCityUK development in Salford.
The US-based firm, which boasts 40 offices worldwide, may also be looking to take space at MediaCity as part of the deal.
Ascent is aiming to seal a contract by the summer that would see it becoming the prime mover in the supply of what Peel is calling "an enhanced range of services, from the operation of MediaCityUK’s state-of-the-art HD studio complex at Salford Quays through to global media distribution."
In a statement from the firm, Peel Media chairman Bryan Gray commented: "Aside from having a first-class reputation within the television industry, Ascent also serves major film studios, independent producers, game developers, advertising agencies and other content producers.
"We look forward to our discussions in the coming weeks and we are confident this will lead to an exciting partnership.”
How-Do understands that as part of the ongoing discussions with Peel, Ascent Media will also be exploring potential space requirements at MediaCityUK.
