The Big Chip Awards, now celebrating its tenth anniversary, has released the shortlists for its final two categories and revealed that the ceremony will be run simultaneously in Second Life for the second consecutive year… this time hosted by a virtual Terry Christian.
The final two categories are Game of the North and The Big Chip International Award for Innovation, both of which are new awards and both of which are open to companies and individuals from outside the North West (a first for the Chips).
Second chance in Second LIfe
The game prize will be contested between Eutechnyx Ltd (for The Fast and the Furious) and Pi Eye Games (Darkside) – more information here – while the innovation gong will be fought out between Cybertill, New Concept Gaming and Phonefromhere.com (click here to find out more).
Following on from last year’s event – apparently the first awards ceremony ever to be held concurrently in Second Life – the tenth outing for the Big Chips will beam out into the virtual world again, with an event arena styled on the Baby computer (first constructed in Manchester 60 years ago).
Compering proceedings in both realities will be Terry Christian, following on from Tony Wilson’s appearance last year.
Techies are currently working on Christian’s avatar as you read, with an outing on these pages booked as soon as he’s ready to meet his public.
