Freelancer Matt Booth has tired of the fact that there aren’t many informal gatherings for all the ‘digital folk’ out there and decided to set up his own Manchester-based meet.
Booth: WLTM
The idea is a simple one; Booth wants digital creatives to have an opportunity to dispatch with the usual forms of cyber communication (we’re talking, or rather he is, “email, iChat, messenger, twitter, blip, text, mobile… the list is endless”) and get together for a good old-fashioned pint.
So, for the first Thursday of every month, starting on 2 October, Booth is encouraging you to switch off your VDU set and go out and do something less boring instead.
This, according to his meet up page, will allow you to “make new contacts, organise collaborations, land yourself some freelance work, land yourself a job, hit on the next big idea or just have a drink before you go home.”
Which sounds pretty good to us.
