CTI creates site for Lifeshare charity | Print |  Email to a friend

CTI has built a new community based website for the homeless charity Lifeshare.

The Manchester e-commerce agency donated its time and skills for free to help the charity.

“The new site has made a tremendous difference in a very short time.  It not only enthuses and attracts new supporters but also invigorates the whole charity,” said Claire O’Connell one of the volunteer organisers at Lifeshare.

“The website really enables us to significantly raise our profile, something which we were not doing before.  We are looking forward to having a linking strategy with Lifeshare’s supporters and friends online and well as developing the Lifeshare Facebook Group.”

It offers practical assistance, support and information to homeless and disadvantaged people in Manchester and Salford.

The new website has been designed to attract interest and volunteers and uses a Drupal-based platform to enable the charity to develop revenue streams and expand its online presence.

“Our aim is to give Lifeshare an online resource that will help their voice be heard amongst the bigger charities that have more resources,” added Nick Rhind managing director of CTI Support Network.

Odd. All of the credits on the site go to someone called Websavestheday.

Web saves the day is a brand name for projects CTI delivers for SMEs that use higher end skills but come within budgets for smaller enterprises

What's a 'higher end skill'? Out of interest.

customised versions of open source software such as Drupal and Magento

I don't follow. So Web Saves The Day build projects for clients that can't afford CTI's rates? And they do this by customising Drupal installs?

^Whats this guys problem? Someone does something good for charity and he attacks it?
Odd

It's not an attack at all, just looking for clarity. Surely it's a good thing for everyone to understand what the press release is trying to explain?

i think it's lovely what they've done!

How did the arrangement come about Robartisan?

Its not every day that companies - particularly in this climate - do things like this for free.

Just seen all the posts on here.

Im the MD of CTI and we produced the website for Lifeshare. We were going to launch a service called websavestheday for the sme market. Essentially providing CMS websites to the markets at a reduced cost using opensource technologies like Drupal and Magento. By using these platforms the client would get a site they can maintain and expand on going forwards without having to re-build anything.

CTI concentrates more on large bespoke applications and working as a digital partner to a number of other agencies in manchester. Mainly using technologies like zend, grails, j2ee and .net. We of course use Drupal still but tend to be larger projects or with large amounts of bespoke modules.

Unfortunately we havent launched the websavestheday service as we had our landlords go into liquidation which has tied up our time in negotiations with the bank and liquidators. We have also been flat out since the launch of lifeshare.

I decided to help Lifeshare with anew website as i belived this would have more impact to their charity than just my donation. I really believe in what they are trying to achieve and the results have been what i expected an increase in Volunteers and donation on a large scale.

Thepress release was so people knew who CTI are and to increase the lifeshare charity publicity and the great work they are doing. We have a very experienced team of 20 and are purely digital so some publicity on work we are working on or donating to worthy causes is all a benefit.

Hope this sorts out the confusion and i dont see any of the comments an attack. Its good people actualy read it and had an opininon weather positive ornegative

hi impartial observer... seems like you've got extra time on your hands that could be put to better use, why don't you come down to the shelter in the weekends and help out with breakfasts and see what it's really all about!
