Tourism promotional body, Marketing Manchester, has joined the rapidly gathering bandwagon of bodies turning to user-generated content to enhance its marketing activities.
The organisation has commissioned Designate to create a website, Manchester Bites, in its efforts to attract new visitors.
Designate’s Manchester office (it has others in Brighton and Cardiff) has produced a site which aims to stimulate interest among Mancunians to entice them into uploading a range of media relating to ‘happenings’ in their fair city.
Videos, vox pops, tips, information and other snippets are designed to allow the city’s natives to show off what they believe are the city’s true colours. The target audiences are younger people such as students and gig go-ers and specialised audiences such as gay and lesbian.
Other areas of the site focus on what’s on and sport.
