Fabretti "leaves" Amaze to set up Gabba with Smith & Smith boss | Print |  Email to a friend

Amaze’s social media consultant, Paul Fabretti, has set up his own company in partnership with Smith & Smith managing director Nathan Smith.

However, it doesn’t mean he’s actually left Amaze. Today, managing partner, Liane Grimshaw confirmed that Fabretti had been offered an opportunity to set up his own venture, but as part of the deal he would be retained by the agency as a consultant.

The move comes less than a year after he joined Amaze from KMP Digitata:

“The ego in me always wanted to do something on my own,” Fabretti told How-Do.

"I wouldn’t have left Amaze for another agency, because, well, you’ve just got to look at their clients. So it’s either a really stupid move, or an inspired one... And now really was as good a time as any.”

The new company, which is based out of Smith & Smith’s Manchester offices is called Gabba.

Fabretti initially described it as a social media agency, but then added “actually that sounds like we’re riding a wave, but at the heart we're about digital strategy, providing consultancy, strategy, research and insight.

“Gabba complements Smith & Smith and it means I’ve got ready-made clients. We’ve already won 3 significant, prestigious bits of business and it looks like we’ll be bringing in one person very shortly, with a second in a more senior role later on.”

Given the reminders about various religions and their decline at this time of year. Perhaps an evangelically styled social media outfit would appeal to either the older ones or perhaps even some new faith in the making?

Best of luck to Paul, I'm sure it will work out. I've been lucky to work with him and know him to be brilliant at what he does. I can highly recommend him.
