Flame Digital has confirmed to How-Do that it has appointed Simon Edwards, the former marketing director for PA Sport, to the position of managing director. The move allows Dom Rodwell (pictured), the former MD and creative director, to step aside and concentrate on the agency's creative output.
Edwards has worked with Flame on a consultancy basis since last December, having previously been a client during his almost three and a half years at PA Sport (the largest division of the Press Association) and in his previous role of international marketing director at Intervoice. He was part of a senior management team that tried to purchase PA Sport from its parent last summer, leaving when the news agency chose not to sell the business. Flame's work for RRG Speaking of his new position, Edwards told How-Do: "As a longstanding client of Flame Digital's I've always had the greatest respect for Dom, Jon and the rest of the team. They have an unerring ability to deliver outstanding solutions with real, measureable value. "They even made me as the client look good, which at times was no mean feat." For his part Rodwell said that he had enjoyed the dual role of CD and MD but that he felt the time was right to "leap one way or the other." "My first love has always been working with clients on account planning and creative direction," he said, "so it was a natural choice for me to focus on that side of things." He continued: I've worked closely with Simon for five years, and he fundamentally gets where we want to be. "I'm looking forward to working with him over the next few years to grow Flame Digital into one of the region's foremost creative agencies." The firm currently works with a roll call of clients that includes the RRG Group and Holiday Extras. www.flamedigital.com Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
