ITV has continued the disposal of its non-core assets with the sale of its 50% stake in Liverpoolfc.tv.
The broadcaster, which yesterday announced a 35% fall in profits, sold its interest to Liverpool Football and Athletic Grounds Limited for £15.75m, plus the repayment of around £3.5m in debts.
The move sees an upfront pay out of £10.5m on completion of the deal, with the balance to follow in December this year.
Jonathan Rodgers, ITV channels director of operations, commented: "Liverpoolfc.tv has grown to become the UK's most popular club website and we wish them the very best for the future."
The website - www.liverpoolfc.tv. -is claimed to be the world’s most popular football club site, with over 1m visitors a month.
Last year www.liverpoolfc.tv was the only football club website represented in the UK's top ten sports sites at number nine with a market share of 1.39%. This year it has climbed to fifth spot and its market share has risen to 1.55%.
