The Liverpool Culture Company has commissioned an hour long downloadable MP3 guide, narrated by Loyd Grossman, to celebrate the city’s 800th birthday and the third anniversary of the city’s inscription by UNESCO on the World Heritage list.
Grossman The guide has been funded by the NWDA and in addition to the English download, is also available in Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and English.
The virtual guide takes the listener around the sights and streets of Liverpool and tells them about a variety of places including St. George’s Hall, Mathew Street and the Cavern Club, the Three Graces, Albert Dock and Liverpool Castle.
John Hinchliffe, Liverpool’s world heritage officer, said: ‘’This MP3 guide is a fantastic asset for anyone visiting or wanting to learn more about Liverpool’s history. It makes our World Heritage site easy to navigate and easy to understand in the wider context of the city’s history and its future development as a cultural destination.’’
