Liverpool FC, whose website is claimed to be the world’s most popular football club website with over 1m visitors a month, is believed to be seeking an agency to overhaul its entire web offering.

The club is understood to have approached a number of digital agencies in the region and from London, with a view to engaging one agency to help it relaunch the site next year and in the process enhance a range of features: from match and player information through to merchandising and digital marketing and live action.

In the summer the club launched Liverpool TV and it is apparently now keen to ensure there is greater synergy between the TV service and the web site. Recently the club has been trialling some live action over broadband and mobile platforms.

The club’s website, which was launched in April 2001 and then relaunched in 2004, is currently segmented into 11 different channels, all of which are free apart from the club’s ‘e-Season Ticket’ service.

e-Season Ticket allows fans to watch highlights of Premiership games, video interviews, Rafa’s press conferences and various other Red essentials.

Liverpool digital agency, Rippleffect, which manages and works with a number of club web sites including Fulham, West Ham, Celtic....and Everton, declined to comment.
