magneticNorth launches climate change website for the BBC | Print |  Email to a friend

In collaboration with BBC Vision Multiplatform Productions, digital agency magneticNorth has launched Bloom, a new website targeting climate change issues.

The Manchester agency has previously worked on a number of digital projects for the BBC .

The brief was to crate a site which would help ‘eco-fatigued Britons’ understand the issues more simply and how they in turn “can make a positive contribution”.

In collaboration with BBC Vision Multiplatform Productions, digital agency magneticNorth has launched Bloom, a new website targeting climate change issues.
The BBC was also understood to be keen that the site should be “playful, fresh and totally unlike anything the BBC had commissioned before both in terms of design and functionality”.

To help deliver the site’s look, magneticNorth commissioned award-winning digital designer and artist Daniel Brown to create an organic digital ecosystem for the Bloom flowers.

A spokesperson for the project said: "With Bloom we've turned what can easily be pretty dull information into an engaging, fun experience that still gives you all the facts you could ever need to help you make informed choices to combat climate change.

“Rightly or wrongly we live in an image conscious world where people are passionate about how things look. With Bloom we've tapped into that to help deliver an immersive experience about a really important issue."
