Manchester Confidential tech team launches Manchester Markets online | Print |  Email to a friend
Tuesday, 01 December 2009

Planet Code, the Manchester Confidential web development spin-off, has created a new website to promote Manchester's diverse array of markets on behalf of the city council.

The team started developing sites for external clients last year and has built a reputation working behind the scenes on portals such as www.piccadillymanchester.com and http://www.manutdsoccerschools.com, for which it runs the coding of the booking systems and content management.

Planet Code, the Manchester Confidential web development spin-off, has developed a new website to promote Manchester's diverse array of markets on behalf of the city council.
Marketing Manchester
This latest project saw Planet Code come through a three-way pitch process to bring together Manchester's markets under one online roof - giving them a platform to bring in new customers, profile traders, run competitions, build loyalty and control email marketing.

Andrew Mullet of Planet Code explained to How-Do that, in addition to the build brief, his team had secured a year long contract to "build the readership and membership in order to communicate the varied markets to the wider North West area."

This includes "using the Manchester Confidential team of journalists to create and manage the content, competitions and features", which they will do in conjunction with council staff.

The team noted that they were proud of the fresh site, which was "about re-inventing the markets' world" and "showing how Manchester can lead the way by being a pioneer."

Planet Code is also behind the new Manchester Confidential website, which, replete with its paid subscription model, goes live next month.

It all seems to be going quite well for the team there at the moment. Perhaps this whole pay thing isn't as desperate I first thought?

Could it be, they're actually all quite clever? This new website, if it gets the content, is really really good.
