Around 3,500 people have signed up to the ‘I Love MCR’ Facebook page, set up by Marketing Manchester and the Manchester Arndale shopping centre in the wake of the violent riots that swept through the city centre last week.
The two groups have launched the campaign, under the banner of the pictured branding, to “show the world that the people of Manchester are proud of their city and united against anti-social behaviour.”
Desktop wallpapers and ‘twibbons’ have been created so social media users can show their allegiance to the cause, while a special ‘We Love MCR day’ is being planned to take place on 26 August
Glen Barkworth, general manager at Manchester Arndale, said of the initiative: “The manner in which staff, retailers and the people on the streets of Manchester have responded to the atrocities is exemplary of the true Mancunian spirit.
“This campaign embodies that and galvanises people in a common good cause which will put Manchester back on the map for all the right reasons.”
Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, added that he hoped to see “thousands more people join in for a few weeks worth or activity that makes us all feel rightly proud of our city and its people, and shows the world what real Mancunians look like.”

A similar campaign for Salford reached three & one of those dropped out because the pink (sorry magenta) logo clashed with profile pic shirt & made him look a bit camp.
good idea for a campaign and impressive turn-around time.
