Mando has seen off seven undisclosed agencies from across the UK to secure a long term web development contract with United Utilities, including the redevelopment of www.unitedutilities.com .

United Utilities (UU) is the region’s largest quoted company and is the only North West company ranked in the FTSE 100.

It is understood that the tendering process took over five months to complete. Mando submitted its tender in partnership with enterprise content management company RedDot.  A date for the new website’s launch has not been disclosed beyond saying it would be 2008.

Denise O’Connor, new media manager at UU said: “We wanted an agency with meaningful understanding of usability, creative execution and technical integration experience.

“As an organisation, we’re passionate about communicating effectively with our customers and improving their online experience.”

UU is understood to be keen to improve customers’ experiences when dealing online with the utility across a range of points from bill paying to water resources. It is also keen to raise awareness of the company’s commitment to social and corporate responsibility and environmental and community initiatives.

Among other projects for UU, Mando has also been commissioned to develop a stakeholder micro-site to support the stakeholder report 2008.

Mando’s other clients include the BBC, Health and Safety Executive, the NHS, Royal Liver, Hill Dickinson,  Mersey Travel and Rare Fashion
