The Mando Group has unveiled the much anticipated new website for United Utilities, the UK’s largest utilities provider and the region’s only FTSE 100 ranked business.

Mando won the brief to redevelop the site back in May, after coming through a tendering process that is believed to have stretched out over five months.

This marked the beginning of what United Utilities itself has called “a complex project”, with Mando completely redesigning the online presence for the business, basing the new look site on the RedDot content management system.

The Liverpool-based team, now 35 strong, has worked to improve numerous areas on the site - including online payments and recruitment - while also adding new consumer facing features such as a 'Water and Carbon Calculator'.

This latest addition helps UU customers review their water usage and make sense of its carbon impact on the environment.

Speaking of the agency’s endeavours, Denise Maskew, new media manager for the firm, said: “Mando Group has delivered above and beyond our expectation in terms of design and implementation.

“This has been a complex project including numerous stakeholders across our business and externally and we are delighted with the results.”

Mando’s chief executive Matt Johnson, added: “Our facilitated workshops helped us to understand the different users of the website, from domestic water customers to investors.

“This has enabled us to develop a clean crisp design, under girded by the enterprise-level content management offering RedDot, to increase usability for the wide customer base of the website.”

The agency is now moving on to redeveloping United Utilities’ Intranet system.
