Matmi has produced a game for EMI to promote Iron Maiden’s new documentary.
The Flight 666 film and album are released next Friday, showing the band's epic 'Somewhere Back in Time' tour.
It featured in 23 concerts across 5 continents in just 45 days. What’s more Bruce Dickinson piloted the plane himself.
This is where the game comes in as fans will get the chance to be Bruce as they fly through 10 levels.
No prayer for the flying Each time a gamer completes a section, they unlock trailers and competitions for merchandise.
“Advergaming has proved to be a great way to enhance EMI’s traditional marketing campaigns,” explained Geoff Smith, digital director, EMI Marketing. “The ‘Flight 666’ game is designed to entertain Iron Maiden’s enormous worldwide audience, and captivate even more players outside the rock market at the same time. The combination of an iconic rock band and flying planes is irresistible!” Matmi was behind the game which launched Lily Allen’s latest album and saw it break 2 million users in 2 months.
Jeff Coghlan, the Cheshire agency’s managing director, said it wouldn’t be too difficult to complete:
“Translating such an innovative and exciting tour into an advergame gave us lots of scope. Most Maiden fans are computer-savvy but we’ve been quite generous with time limits and lives so that they can keep on playing!” Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
