Monumental NWDA grant sees firm receive £140,000 | Print |  Email to a friend
Monday, 05 January 2009
The NWDA has awarded a grant of £140,000 to Monumental Games to help it secure the future of its new base in Salford Quays.

Monumental announced its move into Salford in November with the acquisition of the Swordfish Studios operation, which became available following the merger of Activision Blizzard.

This move saw the firm swooping to open a Northern base (the business is headquartered in Nottingham) and effectively safeguarding the 23 existing jobs at the site. With the money from the NWDA Monumental claims it can now go further than this and create an additional 32 jobs by 2010.

Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development at NWDA, said of the award: “In today’s tough economic climate, the NWDA continues to ensure the future capabilities of the region’s key sectors.

“In securing 23 jobs within the digital and creative sector, we are able look ahead and assist with the future growth of this significant industry.

“Monumental Games have a sound business sense, with employee development at the heart of their operations.

“We look forward to working with the company in the future and assisting their senior management team with both short and long term priorities.”

The money was awarded through the agency’s ‘Grants for Business Investment’ scheme.
