Northwest Vision and Media looks to help digital agencies recruit new talent | Print |  Email to a friend

One of the bugbears that often appears to stymie the otherwise healthy advance of the digital sector in the North West is the lack of fresh talent coming through the ranks.

This is an issue that support body Northwest Vision and Media seemingly wants to address with a new initiative.

The organisation has kick-started a scheme whereby it will work alongside agencies to funnel “some of the region’s best new talent” directly into firms.

Essentially this is a subsidised placement scheme, in which NWVM will help firms source talent, pay up to 50% of an individual’s salary for the duration of the placement and also provide a structured training and support programme ‘on the job’.

The placements will be for a duration of six months and the organisation is hoping to attract people with less than a year’s paid experience in the sector, thus providing a totally fresh talent stream.

As a statement on the Vision and Media site imparts: “This is a valuable opportunity which benefits both companies and trainees, helping to retain the best talent in the region and ensuring their careers start in the right way.

“If you choose to take someone on, by the end of the placement you will have prepared someone to make a big impact in the industry - and you're likely to find they've become an essential part of your team.”

The body is currently looking to recruit digital firms that are interested in being involved in the scheme.

How-Do would imagine that coordinator Simon Knight can expect a deluge of emails hitting his inbox sometime very soon.
