Digital agency Reading Room Manchester has just launched the new website for MIDAS, the publicly funded body that aims to attract business investment into the Manchester city region.
Reading Room’s development of the new web presence commenced in May last year, when the team were commissioned by MIDAS to conduct a ‘usability evaluation report’ of the organisation’s existing online strategy. The recommendations that followed on from this process acted as a blueprint for the agency when building the new site – as it went about tackling issues such as creating a new bespoke content management system and updating user-friendly features. One of the most attention grabbing of these is the homepage’s flash movie that (in the style of Google Earth) zooms in on the Manchester boroughs from a starting point in outer space. Reading Room’s new creative director Kirstie Buchanan described this feature as “sweet,” and added: “clicking on the highlighted regions takes the user through to the interactive flash map which contains an overview of each region. “(This includes) information on the local authorities, the region’s transport infrastructure, higher education and key development sites.” The site launched just over a week ago. www.investinmanchester.com Something to add?
