Skylab creates opening titles for BBC 3 comedy Trexx & Flipside | Print |  Email to a friend
Wednesday, 16 July 2008
The title sequence to BBC Three’s new multi-platform hip hop comedy Trexx and Flipside has been produced by creative studio Skylab.

The sitcom itself was also filmed in Manchester. The six part series show is broadcast on Sundays at 10.45pm.

Skylab was commissioned by Hanrahan Media to conceive, create and produce the titles. Shot in High Definition at Salford’s Media City, the sequence has also been used extensively as part of a wide-ranging marketing campaign for the show. This includes being streamed on popular social networking and user generated content sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Bebo and YouTube.

The studio has also produced digital visuals for some of the UK’s biggest rock bands with projects for Oasis and Muse.

The studio recently won ‘The Anthony Wilson Original Modern Award’ at the 2008 Big Chip Awards for the production of the official Clipper Round the World Yacht Race website.

Nigel Collier, MD of Skylab, said: “With the proliferation of digital TV, and fierce competition from other types of media, you need to not only grab viewers’ attention but also reflect the personality of the channel that has commissioned the series.

“The titles also needed to be designed for a multitude of web and mobile platforms as part of BBC Three’s wider marketing strategy for the show. The overall result is that our work enjoyed extensive exposure, both on and offline, before the first episode had even aired.”
