theEword has compiled a study of Manchester Twitter accounts to see how well different sectors and different companies are using the social network.
Its free Manchester Twitter Report looks at engagement, popularity and involvement in the community and then works out a score using an algorithm to judge the effectiveness of each account.
It has split the findings into 8 different areas, with Nightlife emerging the winning sector, this was followed by Leisure, although News and Media came bottom - How-Do concedes that it hasn’t been engaging enough on Twitter - for which we can only apologise.
Tom Mason, theEword’s social media manager and author of the report found that Walrus Bar was the best official account because of “a constant stream of informal and conversational tweets gives it by far the highest engagement score in the study."
“Social media marketing helps build brand awareness, enhance customer loyalty, increase conversions, promote special offers and much more. However, many organisations still have room for improvement. Official accounts often make basic mistakes such as lacking personality, lapsing into unprofessionalism, straying off topic and failing to mix up the scheduling of tweets,” he continued.
