Woot Media, the Manchester-based sales house that deals with ‘cult’ websites, has been retained by celebrity gossip portal Holy Moly, despite its new deal with broadband rights owner and video ad network Perform.
Perform, formerly Premium TV, has been brought on by Holy Moly to launch an online TV service and sell in video advertising around the site's content. On the face of it this may have jeopardised Woot’s position, but, according to reports, this does not appear to be the case and the agency will be retained to handle sales and sponsorship around the site's hugely popular newsletter (reaching 230,000 subscribers). Woot was set up by Austin Kay and Dan McDevitt in 2005 and has quickly established a niche for itself with some of the web’s most quirky and enthusiastically followed sites. It currently represents B3ta, Kittenwar, Viceland, Don’t Panic and GameShadow, amongst others. Woot claims to have delivered successful campaigns for advertisers such as Sony, Adidas, Britvic and Warner Bros. The agency employs six members of staff and operates a sales office in London. www.w00tmedia.net
