Sellafield-based International Nuclear Services (INS) has awarded its ‘global acceptance activities’ PR account to Washington-based Gavin Carter & Associates.
Global acceptance for PNTL? INS originally put the contract out to tender in August, advertising its potential worth as $1m over the course of four years. However, the awarded contract is now stated to be valued at £137k. It is not clear why there is a discrepancy between these two figures. The American agency will now be working to educate and inform the general public, and key stakeholders, of the activities of Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL) – said to be the world’s most experienced shipper of nuclear cargoes. PNTL is part owned by INS and operates out of the Marine Terminal at Barrow port. It has transported around 170 nuclear shipments over the last 30 years. The brief can be seen as both an emotive and crucial one; dealing with allaying fears that can potentially arise from shipping nuclear materials, and thus helping to keep the industry fuel supply chain in place. INS received three offers for the contract. www.selllafieldsites.com Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
