BDH\TBWA scoops £12m Nissan pan-European brief
Following a six month evaluation programme involving agencies across Europe, BDH has been appointed by Nissan Europe to support the development of the car maker’s pan-European retail marketing. The work will run across 18 countries.

BDH has handled Nissan’s UK national dealer marketing since 2001 and currently supports 220 dealerships in the U.K. This is the first time the Manchester agency has won work from Nissan for advertising outside the UK.

Nissan Europe is headquartered in Paris.

BDH’s dual brief is to produce integrated campaigns across Europe and also to provide ‘strategic consultancy’ in all 18 countries as a new marketing strategy, ‘The Nissan Retail Marketing Way’ is deployed.

Darren Cox, head of brand promotion at Nissan Europe said: “Although BDH\TBWA has worked with Nissan GB for a number of years, this pan-European appointment process started from scratch and we considered many options. The retail strength of the agency made the choice simple in the end.

“Alexandra Johnson is heading up the European team and her experience and understanding of the retail sector has enabled us to devise the European strategy”

Robert Harwood-Matthews, chief executive of BDH\TBWA added: “We’re thrilled with the opportunity to work on a pan-European basis with Nissan on their expansion of dealer marketing activity. The win reflects the quality of the team here in Manchester and further confirms BDH\TBWA’s strong retail heritage.”

The relationship between Nissan and TBWA runs deep. Nissan also works with Staniforth and DIGERATI in Manchester while the London office of TBWA handles the ATL national work for Nissan. Worldwide, Nissan is a client of the TBWA network.

The welcome news for BDH comes at the end of a challenging fortnight for the agency having made managing director Nick Brookes and two other senior creative directors redundant.
