UCLan has drawn its five-month marketing services review to a close with the news that it has appointed BJL and Mediacom North to handle a three-year, seven-figure all encompassing brief.
The university kicked off its tender process last November in the hope of bringing onboard partners for a job that takes in everything from advertising, to digital, to design and right through to media buying, picking up jobs such as magazine production and pay per click advertising along the way. It is understood, from the original tender document, that the budget for the task will be in the region of £500k per annum. Eight agencies are believed to have reached the ultimate review stage, although it was not clear at the time of writing which teams were involved in the final pitch process. Thompson: delighted Grisdale Lesniak Swann previously held the creative account, with John Aylings handling media buying.Charlotte Thompson from BJL said that the agency was “delighted” with the win adding “this contract gives us great opportunities across channels and the team can’t wait to get started.” The contract comes in to effect from 1 May, with the duo’s first tasks said to focus on an undergraduate recruitment drive. Both agencies have enjoyed considerable successes in the past month. UCLan now ranks as one of the largest universities in the country, with more than 32,000 students, 500 undergraduate courses and 180 postgraduate courses. www.bjl.co.uk Something to add?
