Brazen: 3 Golds
“A creative standard bearer for North West PR, Brazen has earned a reputation for focusing on value and efficiency over eight years of steady growth. Which was reason enough to create a self-imposed revolution,” said the judges.

“Re-launching as “Brazen World”, they restructured the entire company. A highlight: introduction of a bonus scheme pledging £50,000 to staff.”

Weber Shandwick and BJL won 2 Gold and 2 Silver awards, while McCann Erickson got 2 Golds.

Staniforth, Impact Media PR and Communique PR all received one award each.

The Outstanding Small Consultancy of the Year gong went to Cameron Wells Communications in Sale. It also got a Gold in Corporate and Business Communications.

SKV’s Heather Price was named Outstanding Young Communicator, while the agency itself got a Gold in for Best Use of Media Relations.

“There were more than 200 entries in this year’s North West PRide Awards, so winning an award is proof that the work completed by an organisation has been judged to be among the best of the best,” said Dave Sanders, chair of the CIPR North West group.

“This year, as the recession has hit hard across the industry, it’s encouraging to see top campaigns receiving the recognition they deserve; it makes me proud to work in PR.  Many congratulations to the winners and all those who were shortlisted this year.”

A special award for Outstanding PR Professional of 2009 went to Mason Williams’ John Williams.

A full list of winners can be seen here.

Perhaps next year the CIPR might drop the "best leaflet" category, it's just embarrassing.

The terminology 'Leaflet' is perhaps not the best reflection of this award and maybe it should be changed to 'Promotional Communication' or 'Press Release/Bulletin' in future award ceremonies. In defence of the actual winner on this occasion though, this case study/leaflet was reflective of an excellent mission by MIDAS in bringing one of the world's major global financial services companies to Manchester and with it providing over 1,000 jobs to the Manchester City Region and creating opportunities which help retain the region’s talented school leavers and graduates. In the current climate I'd say that was a pretty big success story.
