Rob Brown, until recently head of PR at McCann Erickson, has been given a start date at Staniforth, after serving his full three-months of gardening leave.
As reported previously on How-Do, Brown’s announcement that he was due to take on the MD role at Omnicom-owned Staniforth raised eyebrows in the close-knit Manchester PR scene, as the McCann/TBWA move is one that's akin (in relative terms) to a defection from United to City (or vice versa). Bearing that in mind it appears as though his former bosses were keen to put the move on ice for as long as possible and therefore held Brown to his entire three-month contracted period of gardening leave. This is due to draw to an end next month and he will now take up the mantle of MD, a role vacated by Emma Chadwick, on 10 April. Brown told How-Do that he had kept active in the industry during his time off and last week gave a CIPR lecture at Manchester Met entitled ‘PR and the Digital Frontier’ - A subject that appears to be a passion of his. He added that after over seven years at McCanns he was “very excited” by the new challenge awaiting him at Staniforth, imparting that he was keen to head up “a big PR company with a broad skill set.” www.staniforth.co.uk
