Businesslink Northwest has confirmed to How-Do that it has now decided on the make-up of its new panel of marketing services suppliers and has entered into a ‘standstill period.’

The business support organization, headquartered in Preston, has £10m to spend over the course of the next three years on everything ranging from PR, to print, to event management, right through to TV advertising.

Due to the size of the task in hand it has split the requirements into 15 separate lots, each worth amounts ranging from £175,000 up to £2m (see below for full details).

Contracts such as the PR brief, for example, will be much coveted, weighing at a value of £700,000.

A spokesperson for Businesslink told How-Do that the results of the tender process would be forthcoming in the near future, but due to European procurement laws couldn’t be officially announced until the unsuccessful applicants had had ample opportunity to appeal the decisions.

“We haven’t heard anything through yet though,” he commented, “so the decisions have been made and the firms picked, but we still have to go through this cooling off period.”

Competition for a place on the panel will undoubtedly have been fierce amongst regional agency protagonists, all keen for a slice of this huge public sector brief.

The below list illustrates the lots in full, with their proposed budgets shown for guideline purposes.

Lot 1   Marketing support services   £2m
Lot 2   Market research services   £500,000
Lot 3   Mailing service suppliers   £225,000

Lot 14   Media booking services    £1m
