Manchester’s Citypress PR is billing itself as “the most active corporate PR agency outside of London” with the news that it made 11 corporate finance transactions in the run up to the weekend’s Capital Gains Tax (CGT) deadline. It has now advised on deals worth £3b this year alone.
kidsunlimited: child's play for CP The weekend saw a flurry of activity in the run-up to the government’s abolition of taper relief on CGT, which almost doubles the rate of tax from 10 per cent to 18 per cent.As a result Citypress ended up handling 11 transactions over the space of a fortnight, including the high-profile acquisition of Wilmslow-based nursery operator kidsunlimited. This reportedly £45m MBO was backed by agency client LDC (Lloyds TSB Development Capital), and signed, sealed and delivered in time to beat the deadline on Friday. Last year Citypress handled 42 corporate finance transactions worth a combined £5 billion – a target the agency is well on course to better this year, having already reached the £3b mark with 31 deals. www.citypress.co.uk
