Communique boss Sarbutts goes as Burson Marsteller restructures | Print |  Email to a friend

Communique’s managing director, Nigel Sarbutts, has been made redundant following a restructure at parent company, Burson Marsteller.

In total 3 managing directors within the group have gone, along with a number of other staff.

Sarbutts, who’s still listed as MD on Burson Marsteller’s website, left the company last week and told How-Do there were no hard feelings:

“I do wish the business well. I want Communique to succeed as I’ve given a lot to get it back to its award winning ways [they picked up a PRide award at the CIPR Awards last night] and I want that to continue.

“Whilst it is disappointing news, I still want to see it flourish.”

Sarbutts spent 3 years at the agency, which in January this year, reported turnover up 64% and revenues increasing 26%.

As for the future, he said he was considering different options, but “watch this space.”

How-Do asked Communique for a comment, but hadn’t received one at the time of publishing.

Time for Paul Carroll to buy it back and put it at the top again?

This is awful news as Nigel did a phenomenal job in turning the company around. Nigel was instrumental in making Communique survive and re-build its position as a leading national agency. It is a great loss for Communique.

Xx - if he was instrumental they wouldn't be making him redundant. And as for a leading national agency...

Blimey Nige. Bit of a kick in the teeth after you trying to keep it afloat whilst every member of staff was looking to bail out and take their pet client with them. Forget this "no hard feelings" bollox. I want to read: "I hate them, the ungrateful twats. I want to smother their first born in honey and catapult them into a soldier ants' nest."
